Into The Wild is Sean Penn's fourth venture into the world of film-making. Exceptionally well written and directed (Penn is a sightly over-indulgent at times behind the camera but it doesn't effect the flow in any way) this movie is a masterpiece on many a level. Hirsch's performance is heartfelt and moving. Hal Holbrook is also amazing in his role. The narrative is confusing at first but soon transcends into a compelling affair once one gets the timelines sorted out. The voice over given by Jena Malone (playing Hirsch's sister) adds an extra bit of sentimentality to the movie. Definitely a one time watch as the sincerity with which this movie is made will make you love it.
